GET TO KNOW OUR STUDIO

Answers to FAQs

How do I get started?

At PRANA/LIFE we are passionate about setting up every BODY for success.  That's why we strongly recommend booking a personal training session for your first visit, especially if you're new to reformer or the pilates method.

If you are pregnant or have osteopenia, osteoporosis, a spinal condition or injury that restricts movement, a personal training assessment is required before participating in other classes.

Beginning with a personal session is an opportunity to strengthen both body and confidence. You’ll receive tailored guidance on posture, alignment, and safe movement modifications—plus our expert recommendations for classes that match your goals. Leave feeling empowered, supported, and ready to make the most of your time with us.

New student intro package:  ONE 50-min private training session plus TWO group class credits for $139 (a savings of $70).  This offer is perfect for getting started and may be shared by two individuals for the same price (one group class credit per person).  Limit one per person, please.

Can I start with a group class?

If you have any movement restrictions due to pregnancy, osteopenia/osteoporosis, a spinal condition or other injury, group class is NOT appropriate for your first visit (please see above on getting started!).

If you are restriction-free and open to your first experience with us being in a group setting where the pace is quicker and personalized consultation may not be possible, Reformer Foundations classes would be the place to start.

We require a minimum of five Reformer Foundations classes (or instructor approval) before guests brand new to reformer move into our 1/2 mixed level group Reformer classes, which assume some experience, knowledge of the exercises and safety protocols.

Please refer to our class descriptions for more detailed information on yoga and mat class offerings to guide you toward the right fit.  To help ensure everyone has a positive group class experience, please call us with questions!

I have a group and I'd like to create a private class, retreat or spa day.

Great- that’s our specialty!  Please take a look at our privates/groups page for more information and email us at info@pranalifestudio.com with what you’re looking for.  We can also help create an itinerary for your group to enjoy multiple of our offerings for a retreat or special occasion.  We can host you in the studio or travel to your location.

What do I bring?

Socks are required in reformer class, otherwise we are a shoes-off studio.  If you need shoes due to an injury or condition, we are happy to make an exception.

We sell grip socks at the studio and usually have a couple pairs available to borrow.

Jade Yoga mats and small towels to borrow are included with your reservation.  Please wipe down your mat after class with the spray provided.

For our heated classes, bring a water bottle (we have a filling station) and a towel or yogitoes grip mat.  We have small towels available as a courtesy and larger towels available for rent.

How often should I take a class?

More than frequency, consistency is the key!  We recommend one to three+ classes per week depending on your goals.  Many find three sessions per week is when they started to be able to feel and see dramatic changes in their body. Once a week can be a good place to start and/or use pilates and yoga as cross training to strengthen your alignment and enhance performance in other forms of fitness.

Is there a parking lot?

YES!  Our adjoining parking lot accommodates up to 18 cars.  Please respect our neighbors and do not use their driveway or park in any spot designated for 9 N Barton St,

What is the benefit of a private training session vs. group class?

In addition to being the ideal way to begin your journey with our equipment and studio offerings, continued private sessions are a great fit for those who love one-on-one coaching, have a specific fitness goal, or who have a low back or other condition that may require special attention or modifications.  It is also highly beneficial as an occasional complement to regular participation in group classes, to  ensure you're getting the most benefit out of the exercises, or simply where personal attention is valued to create a tailored workout just for you.

Can I walk-in or drop by for any reason?

Advance online reservations are required as all class sizes are limited.  Whenever possible please sign up by 8 PM the evening before class, or by noon the day of an evening class, to avoid last-minute time pressure and ensure you are able to complete intake forms required to participate, if it's your first visit.  Note too that if we have fewer than two guests signed up at those junctures, class may be cancelled.  During in-demand seasons, weekends and holidays we recommend saving your spot even further in advance.

We prioritize our guest's needs and privacy and for that reason we regret that we do not accommodate tours and drop-in inquiries without reservation.

How is tipping handled for spa services?

For your convenience a customary, discretionary 20% gratuity will be added to your bill upon completion of any bodywork service for your massage therapist.  All major credit cards are accepted.

When should I arrive?  What if I'm running late?

Please plan to arrive no more than ten minutes early. In general our doors open ten minutes prior to class and appointment times for guests to check in and get comfortable. The studio door is closed while we are in-session with other guests.

Group classes begin promptly and we regret that we cannot guarantee accommodation to guests arriving late.  We must lock the front door for certain group classes to ensure a safe and uninterrupted experience for those in attendance and in addition your spot may be released to a guest waiting stand-by.

What's the cancellation policy?

Class sizes are small and the studio and your instructors rely on your RSVP for time management, compensation and potentially accommodating others, Therefore, your reservation is accountable at 24 hours before class and the credit forfeited if you are unable to make it for any reason.

Yes, unfortunately do need to uphold the brightline in fairness to everyone in all cases including mistake and illness. You might consider sending another person in your place to use a spot you paid for if appropriate, and in all events we appreciate you emailing to let us know you will not be there.

We offer flexible rescheduling and cancellation for studio credit up until 24 hours before any booking, and during that window you may use our mobile app, Spaces by Wix (join"pranalifestudio"), or contact the studio, to reschedule or cancel any booking. On-location private services are subject to the cancellation parameters provided on booking.  For spa appointments a $50 rebooking fee will apply.

We thank you for supporting the studio by supporting the etiquette we need to keep our programming available!
